i think healy did 5 "from the vault" series before he got fired by the dead, three from the vault was done in the spring of 1992 and was scheduled to be released in the fall of 1992,alas 15 years later rhino slaps some cover art and puts it out.i can't recall the other two shows healy finished before getting canned.still think imho better shows from 71 exist.i know healy said he had about 5 0r 6 shows from 1968 that where in perfect condition, what became of those.also latavala said some 73 shows where giving to healy for "from the vault series" 10-30-73 was one of them, hopefully this will see the light of day.hopefully rhino starts cranking these puppies out.

I'd love to see more from Fall 1971--but they are not 16 track. Thus, if it must be 1971, we are limited in choice.

Still--there are those killer Manhattan Center shows. And, yeah, I read that Healy had planned the next releases. Perhaps they are back on his schedule?

The first night from One from the Vault is already released in part on the Rhino Anthem. But there are more crispy multitracks from around then. An almost all of the first half of 1969. Then, jump to 1971, Europe 1972--then??? Stay tuned.

Yea, here's just one more persons opinion. I'm kind of ashamed to say it here, but I HAVE NOT NEVER HAVE been one to start any trading of tapes/CD's/files over the years w/anyone by snail-mail or e-mail. My old tape collection was made from about a dozen friends whose collections were made from when they were in school/college. I have NONE of the Port Chester shows, none of Europe '72 (except the official releases), and only a one from the Fillmore West in '69. Now that doesn't mean I haven't heard many of these shows either here @ LMA, on other's tapes that I never taped myself for whatever reason.

Now, having said all that, this particular release doesn't bother ME exactly, as I do not have this show on file anywhere. Part of what I enjoy about the official releases are the liner notes, photos, old newspaper articles, etc, that accompany the CD's, that we do not get when simply trading CD's/files. I know that some do not care about these little tid-bits, but I'm sure I'm not alone in my enjoyment of them. SO, with all of that in mind, I'll purchase this release. Do I think that maybe it would be better to do box sets of complete runs @ venues---emphatically YES!!! Of course, it SHOULD NOT be a limited edition like the Fillmore Box Set was, as that just ends up having too many people that buy them to sell @ a much higher price on EBAY. I'd said in a previous thread that maybe they could offer something like having you sending in proof-of-purchase certificates if you were to buy all of the Port Chester CD's seperately (or Winterland, Fillmore East/West, etc) and then they send you a limited edition t-shirt, or a booklet with the photos, articles, etc, or rehearsal or souundcheck CD's that are relative to whatever run of shows the release is from. Did anyone ever save their proof-of-purchase labels from Star Wars action figures to get Boba Fett? I did, and I think this is something that would work out for many, many, many people---including Rhino AND the GD.

One more part of this person's opinion, and I'm done. THEY NEED TO GET OFF THEIR ASS & RELEASE WHATEVER THEY'RE GOING TO RELEASE QUICKLY!!! GDP managed to have 13 downloads put out in 12 months---what's Rhino's f'n problem?!?!?!? Even the Dick's Pick's series averaged about 2.5 to 3 releases per year. And we all know that there are plenty of shows that do not circulate at all, and at least SOME of them are in the vault---release these FIRST!!

Alright, I guess I'm done. Here's something to consider for your Friday entertainment---Let It Rock motherfucker!!!
